Pugwash students scrape and paint the Gate House between Thinkers Lodge and the Dining Hall as the process begins to renovate the building.
The project is called a Service Learning Project, and it is part of the Options and Opportunities Program. The students plan and execute a community service project, covering aspects from teamwork and expenses to safety factors and precautions. We decided on the Gate House as many of the students were already involved with the Peace Ground benches project here at the school, they and felt it would help the estate with its recent refurbishment.

The Gate House, originally called the Staff House, lies between Thinkers Lodge and the Dining Hall. It was moved here from several blocks down the road around 90s years ago. Typically the chef and Ramon Bourque, the butler who supervised the staff, stayed in the two upstairs bedrooms. The downstairs was a place for staff to relax between shifts and also the place where laundry was done. Below are older photos of staff house with some of the dedicated staff.
