​Avalon Daley Neale

On July 2, 2017, Avalon Daley Neale came to tour Thinkers Lodge.  She grew up in Amherst.  Her father, Bill Daley, was an entrepreneur in Amherst.  They bought a cottage in 1976 on 86 Walton Road. She has been coming to for 45 years.  She feels that “the village feels it is their treasure.” It was built by a family from Oxford and he was a lumberman.  The daughter of the family has a place on the point.
 
Yuri Gagarin stayed in the cottage. 
 
In 1995, Avalon was part of the chain that took the furniture from the Thinkers Lodge during the fire.  It was all taken to the Lobster Factory. “It was the most sickening feeling.  Everyone felt it was their home and their things.  Everyone passed the furniture very gently.  Avalon remembers people being calm but crying; they were very emotional.”
 
Avalon shared that Cameron’s father was the doctor that did house visits to her home when he was caring for her ailing husband.  She said that he was her mentor as he helped her to know how to care for her husband.  AT his funeral, many people spoke highly of
