Thinkers Lodge Histories
Workshop Participants share their appreciation of Jay O'Callahan and Mandy Kujawa's story-telling workshop at Thinkers Lodge, September 2011

On September 1, 2011, participants from the United States and Canada began their journeys by car and plane towards Pugwash, Nova Scotia, to join a story-telling workshop with Jay O’Callahan and Mandy Kujawa at Thinkers Lodge.  Some were friends; many had never met. Some were professional story tellers; others had never told a story in front of a group.

They arrived at the lodge on a day the Northumberland Straight was calm, the skies were blue, and the home of the Pugwash Peace Conferences was nearly restored.

“Thinker’s Lodge is a grand place at the most humble scale. It is an honour to be working on the property. It is equally a comfort. It was perfect for the kind of creativity and sharing if a storytellers’ workshop.” Valerie Spencer from Halifax.

Jay was on hand to greet many of the participants with his infectious smile and welcoming words.

“Thank you Jay and Mandi for the ongoing, no – insistent - messages of welcome . . . Come, we’re singing, playing, listening, watching, you’re welcome, you are so welcome here.”  Valerie Spencer  from Halifax
